about me

Alina Soloviova

I have a deep passion for European law, with a special focus on decolonizing legal frameworks in Ukraine.

Throughout my academic journey, I’ve explored the complex dynamics of self-determination, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, particularly within post-Soviet states, using Ukraine as a primary example.

My research examines the balance between the right to self-determination, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders, and how these issues affect the stability and security of sovereign states.

During my time as a Scientific Consultant for the Civil Chamber at the Supreme Court of Ukraine, I had the opportunity to navigate the intricacies of the legal system of Ukraine.

This strategic position not only enabled me to enhance the efficiency of litigation processes but also facilitated the promotion of fairness within our legal realm. The insights I gained from this experience reflect my ability to provide fresh, strategic perspectives that can help shape and strengthen our legal landscape.

As a Scientific Consultant to the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, I worked on governance and legal standards, focusing on ensuring the rule of law. With over 20 years of experience teaching law to students and Ph.D. candidates, I earned my Ph.D. in Law and completed my Habilitation in 2019, further building on my knowledge and commitment to the field.
